Frequently asked questions
Can text appear on only some frames?
Yes. Set the first and last frame for each text layer, or use "Start at current frame" and "End at current frame" while previewing.
Which font do memes use?
The classic meme style is a heavy condensed font in white capitals with a black outline. Pick the Meme font and it's set up for you.
Is the GIF maker really free with no watermark?
Yes. There is no watermark and no account needed. Everything is processed in your browser.
How do I make a GIF smaller?
Use the Balanced or Small preset, lower the width, reduce colors, raise lossy compression or drop every second frame. Keep "Store only changed pixels" on.
How many frames can a GIF have?
Up to 600 frames. For sharing, a few seconds at 10 to 15 fps and 480px wide is a good balance of smoothness and size.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Decoding, editing and GIF encoding all happen on your device, so it also works with private screenshots.
